Process Paper The reason I chose to make the donation for Deseret Industries and donate to Tabitha’s way is because they are both foundations that use money donations wisely and sell other donations to help those in need. Because food insecurity is a huge problem in Utah, Tabitha’s Way Local Food Pantry is one of the best places to donate to because they use the donation wisely and efficiently to help the poor community in the best way possible. I chose to make the big donation to Deseret Industries because they sell the donations at low, affordable prices, which helps the poorer families in Utah. They also use some of the donations to help train individuals so they can receive better jobs. The items that do not sell are given away to those who have very little or no money. Because of these reasons, Tabitha’s Way and Deseret Industries were the best options to spend my time and money for this project. My understanding of the problem changed as I did the work because as I researched the places I spent my time and money on, I realized just how important is that we fight against food insecurity, everywhere, not just in Utah. I also realized how important it is to provide jobs and help all the poor people who can’t afford things at normal prices or who have no money at all. All these things are very important, and they are being accomplished by Tabitha’s Way and Deseret Industries. And the things those foundations do rely almost entirely on the donations made by the people. It really took me a while to figure out what I was going to do for the Make a Difference project. I donated the 10 dollars to Tabitha’s Way, but I wanted to do a bit more. I thought about other charitable organizations and an obvious one came to my head: Deseret Industries. We had some stuff in our house that we were planning on donating, but that was almost nothing. I wanted to make a bigger donation. I realized that there were probably a lot of people in my neighborhood who were planning on donating stuff but had forgotten about or didn’t have it as their highest priority. So I decided to collect the stuff they were planning on donating and bring it all in one big donation. I would say that the biggest problem I had in this project was actually figuring what I was going to do. My project relates to the theme of making a difference in the community because I donated 10 dollars to Tabitha's Way, which is a small donation, but can go long way, and is definitely making a difference. I also collected enough stuff people were planning to donate to fill the entire back of our minivan. I donated some things that probably wouldn't have been donated in a while. The donation to Deseret Industries made a big difference in the community, because it helped people get jobs and helped the poor people in the community. My project, as a whole, did one main thing: it made a positive difference in the community.
